Canada to Reimpose Visa Requirements for Mexican Nationals
Mandatory Visitor Visa for some Mexicans
As of 22 October 2023, all foreign travelers whose passport of citizenship requires a visa to enter Canada. This includes Mexican nationals who do not fulfill the new eTA criteria.
The eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a visa-waiver program that allows citizens of certain countries to travel to Canada for tourism or business purposes for up to 6 months without a visa.
However, Mexican nationals will be required to apply for a visa if they do not meet the eTA requirements, such as having a criminal record or having been previously refused entry to Canada.
The Canadian government says the move is necessary to ensure the safety and security of the country.
